As you may have noticed,
the parking lot has new stripes. The striping is a result of
conversations with parents, teachers, the California Highway Patrol, and
school district officials.
Please take time to read these
parking lot procedures as it will make drop off and pick-up safer,
quicker, and easier.
There are now two lanes entering our lot from Pinehurst. Please pull into the lot and pick a lane and pull as far forward as possible.

As you move through our lot, the two lanes merge into one lane at the park. Taking turns, merge one car from each lane. Alternate.

Please note that the area next to the park is a No Parking Zone.

The
student drop off and loading zone begins at the stairs and continues
along the curb to the flagpole. Pull as far forward as possible.
The school buses willl be parked on the left side
of the parking lot, and the bus drivers will make sure the students are
escorted safely across and loaded on the buses.
Please note that
anyone who has parked in that area, facing the street, will be blocked
until the buses leave at 2:10 Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays,
or 12:10 on Restructured Wednesdays.
If you've parked down the street in the neighborhood, please walk around the parking lot by the park to the pathway near the entrance to the parking lot. There is a crosswalk on the street there.
Please do not call to your children from your car asking them to cross the parking lot to come to you.
Please do not leave your car parked in the middle of the street while you "quickly run" across to get your child from in front of the school.
Also, please do not park your car and leave it in the line of cars that are there to pick up children.
The center "island" is STAFF ONLY parking. Please don't think it's OK to park there for a minute and run your child across the path of the cars moving to the Unloading Zone by the steps.
One more thing, please do not park in the RESERVED parking spaces. One is set aside for the principal and two are set aside for the high bidders in last year's fund raiser. Those spaces were expensive and we honor the contribution those winners made to the school by not parking in there.
On a similar note, please honor the handicapped parking spaces in the front. They are closest to the crosswalk to make it easier for handicapped adults to reach their cars safely.
The back parking lot, by the cafeteria, is for staff, and staff handicapped parking only. It is not a safe place to drop off or pick up children. Please do not use it. (Please note: Parking in any handicapped zone can cost you a $275 fine in most areas in California, including here.)
School buses have the right-of-way, please do not block their entrance to the parking lot. They also must leave on time, therefore, they have the rightof- way at the exit.
On rainy days, you might consider coming earlier, rather than later to deliver your child to school. After school it would be easier on you to arrive later, rather than earlier, to pick up your child.
Alternatives to driving your child to school; School buses! It only costs $10 a year for your child to ride the school bus! They are safe, reliable, and cut down on traffic congestion in the parking lot.
